Target-free recognition of cable vibration in complex backgrounds based on computer vision

•A deep learning model is proposed for high-resolution background segmentation of cables.•The suggested linear rigid body motion recognizer can estimate motion for linear objects in a noisy environment.•The system can be configured to detect both near and far cables in complex scenes.•The system can be loaded onto a variety of commonly used camera instruments.
