In situ TEM observation of the martensite interface movement on heating – cooling – heating of the pre-deformed NiTi shape memory alloy

•The interface movement was studied in situ by TEM on heating of pre-deformed NiTi.•On the 1st heating, the martensite interfaces start moving at high temperature.•The martensite plate includes thin twins and keeps orientation after the 2nd cooling.•On the 2nd heating, interface starts moving at low temperature.•Interfaces movement on the 2nd heating was inverse to movement on the 2nd cooling.
