摘要
Aging is a complex trait involving progressive accumulation of molecular alterations in skin cells determined by individual’s innate characteristics as well as gender, lifestyle habits and exposure to environmental risk factor. To understand the complex interaction of all these factors that leads to global or skin aging, we built a health informatics/bioinformatics platform for skin aging focused on a sub-set of the Nagahama cohort with molecular data and scores for over 20 clinical traits. Our dedicated platform enables “multi-omics data” analysis and integration with clinical attributes (aging score), and epidemiology data. We present this health informatics/bioinformatics platform and demonstrate its ability to link "omics" data to particular phenotypes; examine how these may perturb signaling pathways and networks leading to traits; and prioritize candidates for further functional investigation by cellular and molecular studies. By allowing an integrative approach, it contributes to a better understanding of the role of key players involved in the biological processes of skin and global aging in order to develop innovative solution and treatment in the aging field.
