Zingiber roseum Roscoe. (Zingiberaceae): Current and future perspective

•Zingiber roseum is an important medicinal plant belongs to Zingiberaceae family.•This plant can be used as a food as well as medicine.•This study provides the typical pharmacological characteristics of Z. roseum with traditional attributes.•This study revealed the phytoconstitutents that have been identified from Z. roseum.•The compounds namely rosmarinic acid, and stigmasterol may be potential candidate for PPARα⁄γ agonist to treat diabetes mellitus.
