ID: 209539 Effect of Automated Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) on Essential Tremor (ET) Patient Experiences and Sleep
Neuromodulation(2023)
摘要
Essential tremor (ET) is a debilitating movement disorder causing tremor that can have a significant impact on daily activities. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the ventral intermediate (VIM) nucleus of the thalamus is an approved treatment for ET. Although most patients benefit from DBS, for optimal benefit it may be necessary to utilize different programming parameters throughout a 24-hour period. Manually switching between optimal programs can be cumbersome. Additionally, to extend battery longevity, patients often turn off stimulation while sleeping. In this study, we aim to determine the effects of an automated DBS paradigm on patient experiences and sleep outcomes.
