Eurycolactone F extends shelf life and improves postharvest quality characteristics of guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruit

•Eurycolactone F significantly increased good fruit rate.•Growth of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was inhibited by eurycolactone F.•Eurycolactone F delayed the peak of ethylene release rate.•Eurycolactone F decreased water-soluble pectin content.•Eurycolactone F increased contents of antioxidant substances and sugars.
