Effect of Pre-Transplant Recipient Underweight on the Postoperative Outcome and Graft Survival in Primary Kidney Transplantation

•Recipient underweight is an independent prognostic factor for kidney graft survival.•Especially kidney transplant recipients with a moderate or severe pre-transplant underweight show an increased graft loss rate.•Being underweight does not affect the early postoperative outcome after primary kidney transplantation.
