Characteristics of ictal thalamic EEG in pediatric-onset neocortical focal epilepsy

•The centromedian nucleus and anterior nucleus of the thalamus consistently demonstrate ictal EEG changes.•Ictal EEG changes can be seen in the thalamic nuclei contralateral to the neocortical seizure onset.•The onset of thalamic ictal EEG changes is almost simultaneous (usually within 400 ms) of the cortical onset.
