Abstract
We report a method for cyclization of substituted 2-aminophenols and aryl isothiocyanates to afford 2-aminobenzoxazoles. Reactions proceeded in the presence of elemental sulfur, potassium carbonate base, and DMSO solvent. The conditions were tolerant of useful functionalities including halogen, nitro, and pyridine groups.
