摘要
•Piezoresistance sensitivity in carbon black filled rubber decreases drastically with increase in filler concentration.•Self-monitoring the integrity of products with “industrial amounts” of filler using the piezoresistance could be unreachable.•Piezoresistance in highly filled rubber exhibits unusually high precursor of shoulder peak and shoulder peak phenomena.•The duration between SPP ending and PSPP beginning in two consecutive cycles corresponds to residual strain suppression time.•Novel perspectives on self-monitoring internal rubber failure and lifetime prediction using piezoresistivity appeared.
