Determination of modulus of elasticity and Poisson's ratio of cementitious materials using S-wave measurements to get consistent results between static, ultrasonic and resonant testing

This paper aims to investigate static, ultrasonic and impact resonant testing for determining elasticity modulus (E) and Poisson's ratio (& nu;) of cementitious materials, particularly to determine how to determine S-wave Time-of-Flight (ToF), for that 4 different hypotheses were applied on 47 specimens. The proposed hypothesis provided physically admissible results and differ up to 188% from those obtained using the classical hypothesis (& nu; = 0.2). Therefore, the investigated nondestructive techniques, combining the analysis of P-wave ToF values and the correct reading of S-wave ToF values, are suitable for characterizing cementitious materials' stiffness
