摘要
•Facile in-situ formation of novel V-doped, divacancy-containing β-FeOOH.•Both substitutional and vacancy defects identified.•Charge transfer enhanced by metallic Fe and Vo.•Adsorption-desorption energy of intermediates balanced by V-doping and VFe.•The obtained β-FeOOH outperforms the other Fe-based catalysts and RuO2.
