摘要
The authors identified some unformatted points in the original version of Table 3 (Standard checklist to report a randomized double-blind clinical trial of photobiomodulation for oral mucositis) and present the corrected version below.Tabled 11. Trial design and identification- Identification as randomized clinical trial and description of the trial design.- Provide the medical center where the data were collected.2. Ethics and registration- Provide Center or city ethics committee- Ensure that the trial is registered in a publicly accessible trials register database, preferable those registries that meet the specific criteria requirements of the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) from the World Health Organization.3. Population- Describe patients oncological condition (Eg: oral squamous cell carcinoma, leukemia, myeloma) and main oncological treatment they are been submitted (such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, stem cell transplant).- Detail the eligibility criteria and sample size.- Define the control group: placebo, different PBM protocols or another reference treatment. Internal control is not encouraged because of the bias associated to the possible systemic effect of PBM.- Include procedures for randomization, patients allocation and patient-blinding.- A flow diagram with allocation, losses and exclusions is strongly recommended in the result session.4. PBM intervention- Specific description of the PBM intervention- If care providers responsible for intervention are blinded to the allocation group, describe it.4.1 PBM Purpose- If PBM was used as a prophylactic, therapeutic purpose or both. The criteria to begin therapeutic PBM must be specified (Eg: after diagnosis of OM grade 2 WHO)4.2 PBM approach and device- Description of PBM approach (Extraoral, intraoral, technique association or technique comparison)- Device information: manufacturer, model, number of emitters, type and spatial distribuition.4.3 PBM treatment parameters- Is recommended that all the following PBM parameters must be provided in the methods section. (Based on Jenking and Carroll 2011, WALT consensus agreement and following the CONSORT statement for clinical trial).ParameterUnitAdditional notesLight source-Application procedure-WavelengthNanometers (nm)Punctual, scanning, skin contactAverage outputMilliwatts (mW)Exposure durationSeconds (s)Per point or areaEnergy dose(J/cm2)Spot size(cm2)Power density(mW/cm2)At targetAccumulated energyJoules (J)Total per sessionTreatment description:Specify number of point, number and frequency of sessionObservations*If a multicenter trial, all centers must follow the same PBM device and parameters**If more than one PBM group, the interventions for each group (purpose, technique and parameters) must be described. A table comparing different PBM interventions is recommended and should avoid methods and data misinterpretation.***If there is an associated intervention to PBM, sufficient details to allow replication must be provided5. Measurements toolsPrimary and second outcomes need to be defined- If assessment outcomes investigators are blinded to the allocation group, describe it.5.1 Oral mucositisDefine the oral mucositis scale used to compare groups, including how and when they are assessedIt is recommended internationally validated standardized scales (Eg: WHO, NCI, RTOG, OMAS, ChiMES)If not standardized, a full oral mucositis scale detail must be provided5.2 Others assessmentOutcomes other than oral mucositis are encouraged, but they also need to be pre-specified on how and when they are assessedPBM: Photobiomodulation.
