摘要
This paper proposes a method of increasing the antenna gain and reducing the beamwidth by periodically loading metamaterials on the dielectric substrate around the small microstrip patch antenna. The antenna operates at 35 GHz. The proposed metamaterial structure loads inductor arm and capacitor arm consecutively to the traditional I-shaped metamaterial, which improves the gain of the antenna. Through the S-parameter extraction method, the performance analysis and structure optimization of the designed metamaterial unit is carried out, and the antenna gain after optimization is increased by 1.62 dB, from 6.72 dB to 8.34 dB.
