Hydropower plants and hydropower machines: water wheels

Hydroelectric power plant sizing and design requires a selection of the type of hydroelectric power plant and of hydroelectric power machine suitable for the local situation. Due to the variety of possible designs, the various hydroelectric power machines and hydroelectric power plants are discussed with regard to the technical concepts and the hydroelectric power plants are classified. On the one hand hydroelectric power plants and water wheels and on the other hand hydrodynamic screws, water column machines, water turbines and the kinetic energy converters are discussed.
