An Energy-Efficient Routing Scheme for Prolonging Lifetimes of Optical Satellite Networks

In order to prolong the life of satellites, energy consumption of optical satellite networks should be carefully considered. In this paper, we model the energy consumption model, and thus propose an energy-efficient routing algorithm. The simulation results show that the method can prolong more than 50% lifetimes compared with previous algorithms. More specifically, 0.5% blocking rate can be reduced when the network load is light, and 1% lower blocking rate is for the heavy load. As a cost, the delay will be increased about 3%.
