Composite material of NiFe-LDH nanosheets and CoP nanowires for efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Developing composite material is a feasible strategy to explore high-efficiency electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this work, NiFe-LDH nanosheets were coupled on the surface of CoP nanowires/Ni foam by a simple two-step hydrothermal method. Their electronic structure is affected each other by a strong interaction due to the formed hierarchical heterostructure, regulating the intrinsic activity. CoP with a thin and long nanowire structure provides a large electrochemical active area. With these advantages, the prepared NiFe-LDH nanosheets@CoP nanowires/Ni foam shows an enhanced oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance with an overpotential of 190 mV at 10 mA·cm −2 in an alkaline environment (1 M KOH). This paper provides a potential strategy for high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction (OER).
