Design and Synthesis of Novel Totarol Derivatives Bearing Carbamate Moiety As Potential Fungicides

Abstract
A series of totarol derivatives were synthesized by introducing the carbamate moiety into the molecular structure, and their antifungal effects against Pyricularia grisea, Fusarium graminearum, Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lycopeerisci, and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.vasinfectum were evaluated. The antifungal results showed that most of target compounds have good antifungal activities against the tested fungi. Noteworthily, the EC50 value of compound substituted with 2-CH3-Ph against Botrytis cinerea was 26.6 μg/cm3. Tosyl-substituted derivative demonstrated to possess antifungal activities against Pyricularia grisea, Fusarium graminearum, and Botrytis cinerea with EC50 value of 35.8, 20.9 and 23.8 μg/cm3, respectively.
