Selective laser ablation preparation of Ag grid transparent electrodes with fractal-combined structures and optimization of fractal grid pitch

•New fractal-structured patterns were applied to Ag grid transparent electrodes (TEs).•Fractal-combined Ag grid TEs were prepared to determine the optimal combined periods.•The optimal fractal-combined Ag grid TE was chosen to further optimize grid pitch.•The best trade-off between optical and electrical properties of the TE was achieved.
