Compact passively Q-switched KTA self-frequency doubled Raman laser with 671 cm−1 shift

•Passively Q-switched KTA self-frequency doubled Raman Laser at 573 nm was reported.•KTA crystal driven by composite passively Q-switched laser for compact system.•Output power of 240 mW with KTA frequency-doubling in one direction was achieved.•Narrow pulse width of 1.2 ns yellow pulse resulted in much higher peak power up to 17.2 kW.
