Performance of Finite Full-Duplex Frequency-Hopping Ad Hoc Networks

摘要
This paper investigates the performance of full-duplex frequency-hopping (FH) networks in finite areas via the network achievable sum rate (NASR) metric. Considering the boundary of a finite network and the unequal locations of nodes, a closed-form outage probability expression conditioned on the spatial distribution of nodes is proposed, and an analytical formula for nodes in a uniform distribution is derived after that. Following the analytical formula, the optimal numbers of nodes for maximizing the NASRs of different sizes are then proposed. Additionally, a new node distribution scheme is given to reduce mutual interference. Numerical results indicate that the new distribution scheme has a higher NASR than the uniform distribution. More importantly, an ad hoc network with full-duplex nodes may have a lower NASR than an ad hoc network with half-duplex nodes if the number of nodes in the network is relatively large.
