Endomyocardial fibrosis (EMF) is a restrictive cardiomyopathy of unknown origin, affecting mainly young people from tropical countries. EMF is considered to be the most restrictive cardiomyopathy in the world. The main risk factors for EMF appear to be age, gender, ethnicity, social vulnerability, and eosinophilia.
