Combination prophylactic amiodarone with beta-blockers versus beta-blockers in atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery: A systematic-review and meta-analysis

•Patients given combination amiodarone and beta-blockers had significantly lower risks of developing postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) in comparison to those given beta-blockers alone.•Combination amiodarone and beta-blockers saw no significant difference with beta-blockers alone in terms of treatment-related drug discontinuations (TRDD) or mortality.•Amiodarone alone saw no significant difference when compared with beta-blockers in terms of POAF prevention.
