V2G and G2V Operation of a Bidirectional Battery Charger for EV

The transmission of electrical power from the grid to an electrical vehicle (EV) and from an EV to the grid is suggested by this research while maintaining improved power factor of the grid using a configuration of a single-phase bidirectional AC-DC converter and bidirectional DC-DC converter. In the first stage, a single-phase bidirectional AC-DC converter is utilized to transform a 230 V, 50 Hz AC supply into 380 V dc, and in the second stage, a bidirectional buck-boost dc-dc converter is used to charge. While in discharge mode, it sends electricity at 230V, 50 Hz, back to the grid. It uses a battery with 1.2 kW of charging power at 120V. The battery is charged using the buck-boost DC-DC converter in the buck mode, and discharged using the boost mode. The charging current and voltage are regulated by a proportional-integral (PI) controller. The efficiency of the suggested algorithm and the sustainability of the system are evaluated by simulation results. Bidirectional battery chargers for EVs are a promising technology to enhance grid integration between electric vehicles and are expected to become crucial in the growth of sustainable transportation in the future.
