摘要

•ITVDI was used to improve the assessment accuracy of drought characteristics.•The source area was wet, the Loess Plateau and the downstream area were dry.•Most factors had both upper and lower boundary constraint effects on ITVDI.•Climate, topography and human activities all contributed to drought in the YRB.
