Design of Ferrofluids and Luminescent Ferrofluids Derived from CoFe2O4 Nanoparticles for Nondestructive Defect Monitoring

A method has been developed for obtaining ferrofluids including luminescent ferrofluids derived from CoFe2O4 nanoparticles. The use of these materials in magnetic particle inspection permits the visualization of microdefects. In contrast to magnetic suspensions, ferrofluids are completely included in the area of defects such that the defect image has greater contrast and volume.
