•A deep learning-based framework is proposed for multi-cattle tracking using video.•Our techniques address scale variations, random motion, and occlusion challenges in cattle tracking.•Video data obtained from cameras installed in crowded livestock farms are used for the application.•Results could help to strengthen the automatic monitoring and management of livestock farms.
