Quinoxaline-derived “Turn-Off” Fluorescent Sensor for the Selective Detection of Fe3+: Synthesis, Spectroscopic Analysis, BSA Binding and Computational Studies

•A novel quinoxaline-based triazole (BTQT) was synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques.•The optical sensing properties revealed that (BTQT) act as a selective “turn off” fluorescence towards Fe3+ with LOD 3.5 µM.•BSA binding studies revealed a static mode of interaction with (BTQT).•The experimental result of BSA was in good accordance with the computational studies.
