Pre-existing mental health disorders impact 12-month health service usage outcomes in adult ICU survivors: A data linkage study

Introduction: Pre-existing mental health disorders (PMHD) are highly prevalent amongst the adult intensive care population, occurring in approximately one third of patients admitted to an adult ICU. ICU survivors are known to have increased levels of health service usage compared with the general population, however the extent to which this is impacted by the presence of a PMHD is unknown.
