Short-term mortality prediction using a combination of clinical and CT features: Refining the prognosis of critically ill patients in shock

•In this retrospective study of 289 critical patients in shock state undergoing abdominal CT, 10-day mortality rate was 135/289 (47%).•Three CT features were independently associated with 10-day mortality. Diffuse kidney infarction; Superior mesentery artery < 5 mm; Small bowel dilation.•Area under the curve of the combined model including clinical and CT features for 10-day mortality prediction outperformed the model including only clinical variables.•In the validation cohort, area under the curve of the combined model for 10-day mortality prediction was 0.87; 95%CI [0.71–0.91].
