A Dynamic Performance Analysis Method of the Variable Gear Ratio Magnetic Gear

This paper investigates the dynamic characteristics of a variable gear ratio magnetic gear (VGRMG) by using a dynamic performance analysis method proposed, which is based on the torque look-up table model of the VGRMG obtained by the finite element method (FEM) with correction. The gear ratio regulation and dynamic characteristics are tested on the prototype and test bench of the VGRMG. It is found that the measured gear ratios match the theoretical values well, the maximum relative error is about 0.41%. The speed curves of the two rotors and torque curves obtained by the dynamic performance experiment also match the simulation results well, except for a large overshoot caused by a transient 38Nm load torque produced by the inner rotor driving induction motor which is not considered in the simulation. The experimental results verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed dynamic performance analysis method.
