A 10 GHz Quadruple-Tail Comparator with Double Feedforward Paths and Minimal Delay Slope in 28 nm CMOS

This paper proposes a 10 GHz quadruple-tail comparator with double feedforward paths, making it less input-dependent and suitable for high-speed synchronous SARs. The prototype comparator in 28 nm CMOS achieves 26.4 ps delay at a 1 mV input and -5.8ps/decade delay slope. It achieves the shortest delay and the smallest delay slope of any recently published high-speed comparator. Furthermore, the proposed work has a flat delay and noise across input common mode from 0.4 V to 0.8 V.
