A Novel Robust Design Method Based on the Coordinated Mechanism of Surrogate Models

The uncertainty of design variables is usually ignored in deterministic design, which may lead to unreliable process parameters for actual production and unable to provide satisfactory products. To ensure the higher reliability of a product, a novel robust design method based on the coordinated mechanism of surrogate models is proposed. In the implementation process, the Kriging model and polynomial response surface model are adjusted to achieve coordinated optimization, ensuring that the robust solution is feasible within the design interval. A gear reducer is utilized to verify the performance of the proposed method. The comparison results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the robustness of design parameters, the interpretability of variables, and the efficiency of optimal design.
