Power and performance are the two most important objectives for many digital IC designs. However, they often conflict with each other and the reconciliation between them is a continuous challenge. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of various techniques that can address this challenge and discusses their respective advantages and disadvantages. These techniques can also offer insights for handling other competing design objectives.
