Fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 (FMR1) gene premutation (PM, “carrier”) is linked to a higher frequency of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other forms of fragile X–associated neuropsychiatric disorders (FXAND), and frequently requires both psychotropic drugs and nondrug therapies.
