• miR-318 directly targets the 3′-UTR of AjDNMT1, and downregulates the expression level of AjDNMT1. • miR-318 mimics decreased the expression of AjDNMT1, AjMBP, and AjDMAP, while miR-318 inhibitor increased their expression. • Regulations between miR-318 and AjDNMT1, AjMBP, AjDMAP provide insights into the prevention of A. japonicus SUS.
