A new convolutional neural network-construct for sepsis enhances pattern identification of microcirculatory dysfunction

•There is no specific clinical method to identify the sepsis underlying gravity.•Organ and microcirculatory dysfunction are important predictors of outcome in sepsis.•The CNN sepsis phase recognition was due to conjoined vessel-tissue pattern analysis.•Novel-CNN provides an automatic approach with precise classification of sepsis stages.•The method has the potential to be useful for the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis.
