A Fuzzy-Based Multi-objective Optimization Applied to Analog Circuits for Fuzzy Systems

Analog circuits are increasingly used as controllers for complex fuzzy systems, prompting the need for hardware implementation of fuzzy logic solutions and, depending on the problem, changing the configuration of the fuzzy system may be required. In this paper, we propose a multi-objective optimization strategy to evolve analog circuits to simulate fuzzy membership functions, using a fuzzy system to aggregate different objectives and evaluate analog circuits. The proposed strategy provides a simple yet effective multi-objective strategy for the circuit evolution, with the benefit of the interpretability of the results. We compare our proposed approach in different analog circuit optimization using its mathematical models to generate membership functions. Compared to other optimization strategies, our approach achieves optimal results with fewer iterations.
