Compliance with the ISWCAP checklist in a THR ERAS pathway – A snapshot audit

Background: Despite advances in surgical technique and the implementation of ERAS protocols, complications related to incisional wounds can still occur. Whilst improvements to intraoperative technique and modern wound dressings have reduced major surgical wound complications such as surgical site infection (SSI), surgical wound complications (SWC) still occur. These may include surgical wound dehiscence (SWD), Hypergranulation, Peri-wound maceration, Scarring, Medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI), Seroma and haematoma, and SSI.
