Characterization of Patients with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Undergoing Deferred, Upfront, or No Cytoreductive Nephrectomy in the Era of Combination Immunotherapy: Results from the International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium

There has been a declining trend in the proportion of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who undergo nephrectomy at any time. However, cytoreductive nephrectomy may still benefit well-selected individuals and should remain part of multimodal approaches while relevant clinical trials are ongoing.
