摘要

•Zwitterionic poly(terphenylene piperidinium) membranes were synthesized.•Zwitterionic (ZW) moieties contain sulfonic acid and piperidinium groups.•VRFB performance was improved by increasing the content of zwitterionic groups.•The VRFB with ZW60% membrane, showed self-discharge time of more than 34 days.•No molecular changes were recorded by NMR analysis after 500 cycles of VRFB tests.
