Impacts of sintering temperature on the structure and physical properties of MnWO4 ceramics

•The microstructral defects of MnWO4 are studied by positron annihilation technology.•Sintering temperature can influence the cation vacancy characteristics.•The dielectric and magnetic properties can be regulated by sintering temperature.•The magnetic properties are strongly correlated with vacancies concentration and lattice distortion.
