Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies

Radiation accidents are very rare in Germany. For the most part, there is no practical experience in the management and medical care of radiological/nuclear accident scenarios. This article gives an overview of the effects of radiation on humans, the basic principles of medical care, describes the protective measures that should be taken and outlines this with pictures from exercises that have taken place.
