摘要
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) is a great economic concern to the people. Streptomyces is a promising source of novel bioactive compounds exploited as remedial measure for infectious diseases. The current study aimed to explore bioactive substances from Actinomycetes that are antagonistic to uropathogens. Antibacterial activity of isolated Actinobacteria was studied using agar plug method. The promising Actinobacterial culture BRS was identified by 16S rRNA analysis. Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to optimize the bioactive compound production. The extracellular bioactive compounds were extracted using ethyl acetate. The antibacterial and antioxidant effect of ethyl acetate extract was studied using disc diffusion method. Ethyl acetate extract was characterized by using FTIR and GC-MS. twenty strains of Actinobacteria were isolated from bamboo rhizosphere soil and a sugarcane molasses dump site. Among them, BRS strain showed antibacterial activity was identified as Streptomyces sp BRS. Optimal conditions for production of bioactive compounds were found to be: malt extract (10 g), yeast extract (5 g), dextrose (5 g), pH 6.5, temperature 30 degrees C, after 7 days of incubation period. FTIR analysis of BRS extract revealed the existence of potential functional groups, while GC-MS revealed the presence of main and minor peaks based on retention time. BRS strain could be further studied for large scale production for bioactive compounds with antibacterial.
