Anisotropy and reproducibility of ultrasound shear wave elastography in patella tendons with and without tendinopathy

•Intra- and inter-observer reproducibility of SWE performed by junior and senior observers was shown to be moderate to good.•SWE and anisotropy coefficient were shown to be feasible tools to differentiate patella tendons with and without tendinopathy.•Average SWV significantly decreased in patellar tendons with tendinopathy.
