Safety and Efficacy of Vaginal Implants in Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery: A Meta-analysis of 161 536 Patients

For vaginal surgery for pelvic organ prolapse, the use of implants is associated with significantly higher efficacy in comparison to the use of native tissue, despite higher, but acceptable, complication rates. Careful patient management and the development of advanced implant materials may reduce the occurrence of erosion, which has been the most significant implant-related complication.
