摘要
•Thanks to its natural complexity and functionality, decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) forms an excellent foundation for highly cell-compatible bioinks and bioresins.•Formulation of dECM bioinks and bioresins requires solubilization of dECM into non-crosslinked fragments, followed by optional chemical modifications. This must be done preserving the bioactive molecules found in native ECM.•Both in extrusion printing and vat photopolymerization, standardization is crucial to fully harness the unique properties of tissue dECM-derived materials.•Recent bioprinting approaches utilize microbial extracellular polymeric substances for bioprinting bacteria, facing similar challenges to those encountered in mammalian cell printing.
