Leobordea Platycarpa a Foraging Weed, Current Status, and New Insights: a Review of Geographic Origin, Botanical Aspect, and Biochemical Properties

This review article aims to provide the first complete comprehensive knowledge available in the published research literature about Leobordea platycarpa. The diversity, distribution, and biological potential of Leobordea (Lotononis) species have not been fully explored in many countries. Therefore, literature reviews have been carried out to investigate and explore the botanical, and ethnobotanical uses, floral study, chemical, and microbiological study, botanical categorization, and taxonomical study of the selected plant for further findings. According to the literature survey, the results showed that the selected plant is not known for any righteous biological activities and ethnobotanical uses, but it can be used for the treatment of lumpy skin diseases (LSD). Furthermore, this study will provide botanical, floral, chemical, and comprehensive information regarding L. platycarpa, including geographical origin, botanical aspect, floral diversity, phytochemical investigation, cultivation, conservation, physiology, and biological activities. According to our findings, biological and phytochemical screening are necessary to investigate the bioactive phytochemical ingredient as well as other biological discoveries. As a result, L. platycarpa is not widely known for its advanced phytochemical, biological, and morphological screening, so more research and inquiry are suggested and it would be preferable if L. platycarpa could be studied by utilizing modern methodologies and processes to evaluate bioactive and phytochemical ingredients, and other biological results for future research. So, treatment of lumpy skin diseases is suggested through L. platycarpa.
