Compact Silicon MZI Optical Switch with Low Thermal-crosstalk

Thermal crosstalk of a compact, low-power, high-speed thermo-optical MZI switch was evaluated using a ring resonator placed nearby. Thermal crosstalk is small enough to maintain sufficient classification accuracy even in a 64 × 64 size optical neural networks, which significantly reduces the integrated circuits footprint compared to conventional micro-heater switches.
