THz emission spectroscopy of interlayer phonons in MoSe2

Terahertz (THz) time-domain emission spectroscopy was performed on layered 2H-MoSe 2 . The THz emission shows coherent phonon signals in addition to the usual single cycle THz pulse. Fourier analysis of the highly damped oscillatory response shows low frequency peaks below 1 THz (33 cm −1 which we attribute to infrared active interlayer shear and breathing modes.
